Mesilla Valley Bicycle Coalition
The Mesilla Valley Bicycle Coalition is a grassroots organization made up of the
individuals from Las Cruces and Mesilla, New Mexico. Members are students, retirees,
Bike and Chowder Club riders, NMSU
faculty and staff, avid bicycle commuters, racers and recreational riders.
Mission
The mission of the MVBC is to make the Las Cruces/Mesilla area an ideal place for
bicycling.
Goals
- Improve bicycle safety through development of better/standardized facilities in existing
areas and areas of new growth.
- Promote bicycling as an alternative form of transportation.
- Promote the recreational use of bicycling.

MVBC had its own mailing list. To subscribe, send a message to
mvbc-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You must be approved by
the list owner since we have had spam problems on the list. Go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/list/mvbc to visit the mailing list home page to view past messages or post new
messages. Messages sent to
mvbc@yahoogroups.com will be distributed to all the list members.

the Internet. Rather than trying to add another list of general purpose links, here
are links to the Bicycle Federation of America's
Internet Resource Center, the League of American
Bicyclists, and CHAINGUARD Bicycle
Advocacy Online. Find the Links section at each location as a starting point for
finding bicycling information on the Internet.
This section will concentrate on finding links to bicycling information specific to New
Mexico.

Manual with a link to Sharing the Road
- New Mexico Cycling - "dedicated to
promoting cycling in New Mexico." Emphasis on bicycle racing.
- New Mexico Touring Society - a
League of American Bicyclists affiliated bicycle
club consisting of cyclists of all ages and abilities, both road and mountain biking.
- Southwest Velo Cycling Team - a racing
team.
- Chile Peddlers Tandem Club - a
New Mexico club for tandem bicyclists.
- Two Wheel Drive - an interesting web page
from a bike store in Albuquerque. It has some very good info. on bike advocacy,
rides in the states, how to's on riding more comfortably, fixing your bike, etc.
- GASP! - Greater Albuquerque Spokes People -
Albuquerque group formed to lobby for and educate about bicycling and to promote the
formation of more bicycle commuter groups at area employers.
- New Mexico Alternative Transit - a
non-profit organization that advocates increased bicycle use, access,
safety, education and policy change by promoting the bicycle as an everyday
means of transportation and recreation. NMAT also promotes bicycling for
safer streets, cleaner air, and energy independence.

- Mountain bike activities in the Las Cruces/El Paso border area. Lists area rides for
riders of varying level of experience, beginner to advanced.
- El Paso Bicycle Club - for
El Paso area cyclists and organizer of the annual Chile Pepper Challenge.
